How to Play 2048 Balls
Aim and drop
Move your pointer or drag to aim, then click, tap, or release to drop a number ball. Check the next ball before picking a spot.
Match and double
Two balls with the same number merge on contact into one larger ball. Match 2 with 2 to make 4, then keep doubling through 8, 16, and beyond.
Reach 2048
Bring two 1024 balls together to make 2048 and win. Each merge adds the resulting number to your score. Dropping a ball earns no points.
Leave room to grow
Keep the pile below the dashed line. A ball that has touched another ball or the floor ends the run if it stays above the line for two continuous seconds. A merge can save the run.
Controls
Move your mouse to aim and click to drop. On a phone or tablet, tap to drop, or drag to aim and release inside the container. Releasing outside cancels the drop. For keyboard play, focus the game and use Left and Right to aim, then Space or Enter to drop. Use Pause for a break and Restart for a fresh run. Sound starts off.
Tips for Reaching 2048
- Look at the next number before choosing where to drop.
- Keep matching numbers close. A tiny ball between two large matches can block a merge.
- Leave room for the larger ball that a merge creates.
- Place carefully near the danger line. A chain of matches can bring the pile back down.
FAQ
What is 2048 Balls?
2048 Balls is a physics number merge game. Drop numbered balls into a container and combine matching numbers to reach 2048. Balls roll and stack, so placement matters.
Is 2048 Balls free to play?
Yes. Play on your phone, tablet, or computer with no download, account, purchases, or ads.
How is this different from classic 2048?
Classic 2048 slides tiles across a grid. In 2048 Balls, you choose where to drop each ball, and gravity and collisions bring matching numbers together.
Which numbers can I drop?
New balls are 2, 4, 8, 16, or 32, each equally likely. Higher numbers must be created by merging. The next ball is shown before you drop.
How do I win, and how does scoring work?
Merge two 1024 balls into 2048 to win and end the run. Each merge scores the resulting number: 2 plus 2 earns 4 points, and 8 plus 8 earns 16. Reaching 2048 takes priority if the pile also reaches its danger limit in the same physics step.
Why did the game end before I reached 2048?
A ball stayed above the danger line for two continuous seconds after touching another ball or the floor. A newly dropped ball is exempt until that first contact. The warning clears when the ball returns below the line or merges away.
Can I pause or undo a drop?
Use Pause to freeze the balls and timer together. Switching away pauses automatically; choose Resume when you return. There is a short 400ms delay between drops and no undo.
Are my scores or settings saved?
No. Your best score and sound setting last only for this page visit. Restart keeps your visit best, but opening, refreshing, or returning through browser history starts a fresh visit with default settings. The timer starts on your first valid drop and stops when you win or lose.
